Rinstrum offices are scattered across four continents, and it has been 30 years since we formed the company in Australia, 20 years since we began in Germany, 15 years in USA, and 10 years in Sri Lanka. 5 years have passed since we acquired LEDit inGermany and bought the new property in Sri Lanka. Our product range has advanced from off the shelf products to customised solutions that cater to unique customer requirements. We are passionate about what we do, and our“Smart Weighing” philosophy ensures innovative design that delivers products that are easy to install, operate and maintain, are reliable and affordable, and make one proud to use in their business.
Our humble beginnings as Ranger Instruments took place in the founder’s backyard, where chasing chicken from under desks was in the job description. We were doing quite alright in the Australian market when our indicators obtained trade approval in Europe, and we rapidly expanded exports from Australia in 2002. It was also when we finally said goodbye to the chickens and moved to a new office in Acacia Ridge, Queensland. A decade later when we had established the German and US offices, we could not escape the fact that we needed a central production facility.
Our Sri Lankan office started with just a couple of employees in 2012, merely for logistics reasons. With many shared interests (including an unending love for cricket) the bonds were formed between Australia and SriLanka. It soon became apparent that the talent in Sri Lanka would create a unique proposition for the company, sharing technical, design and engineering knowledge, as well as back-office support. Today our Sri Lankan office has grown to support a vast majority of Rinstrum’s global operations, including production and logistics, design and engineering and sales and accounts administration.
Our talented Sri Lankan production team is committed towards ensuring that orders are prepared on time.The sales and accounts administration team works closely with our fulfilment managers and salespersons in Australia, Germany, and USA to provide seamless support for sales and financial operations.
Without a doubt the Sri Lankan office has become a pinnacle of success for Rinstrum. The production facility has increased our global capacity and provides better logistics support, being situated strategically at the crossroads of major shipping routes and time-zones. With the outbreak of the pandemic, we had to completely change the way we operate. Despite social distancing and isolation, we have become more close-knit than ever before, working in unison towards achieving company goals.
It is indeed amazing how we have all come together to reach a common destination despite being on opposite ends of the Indian Ocean. We have overcome barriers in language, culture and time zones, and built lasting friendships based on trust, respect, passion, commitment and hard work. This is testament to the incredible friendship and shared potential between our two beautiful island nations.
